Privacy Policy
This page describes what the Aion Web Clipper extension processes, what it stores in extension storage, and how that data is used.
1. What the extension does
Aion Web Clipper lets you save the current page, selected text, and optionally new bookmarks inside the explicit Aion bookmark folder into your Aion capture queue for later organize and recall.
2. Data processed during page clip
When you choose to save a page or selection, the extension may process:
- the current page URL and canonical URL
- the page title and site name
- selected text, extracted article text, or fallback page metadata
- a sanitized HTML snapshot of the page body when article enrichment is attempted
- tags you enter in the popup
- capture metadata such as capture time and extraction mode
The HTML snapshot path is used only to improve the saved article body. The extension strips hidden inputs, scripts, comments, and sensitive attributes before sending that snapshot to Aion.
3. Optional bookmark sync data
If you explicitly enable bookmark sync, the extension may additionally process bookmark data for new items added to the Aion folder.
- bookmark URL and title
- bookmark folder id and folder name
- bookmark id and date added
Bookmark access is optional. The extension requests the bookmarks permission only after you actively enable this feature.
4. Data stored in extension storage
The extension stores a small amount of local configuration in extension storage:
- the configured Aion base URL
- the dedicated Aion bridge token used for authenticated saves
- bookmark sync state, such as whether sync is enabled and recently processed bookmark ids
This information is stored locally in the extension so the extension can reconnect to your Aion account and avoid duplicate bookmark ingest.
5. Where data is sent
When you save content, the extension sends the selected page data to your Aion backend so it can be written into your capture queue. In article mode, the backend may also receive the sanitized HTML snapshot needed to derive Markdown and article HTML sidecar artifacts. The Chrome Web Store release is intended to connect to the official Aion web app domain.
6. Why the data is used
- to save the page or selection you chose to capture
- to preserve title, URL, tags, and capture context for later organize and recall
- to support the optional bookmark-folder sync flow
- to prevent duplicate ingest of recently processed bookmarks
7. Data sharing and advertising
The extension is not designed to sell captured data to third parties or use it for personalized advertising. It uses the data only to support your Aion capture workflow.
8. Your controls
- do not enable bookmark sync unless you want the extension to watch the Aion bookmark folder
- pause bookmark sync in the popup at any time
- revoke permissions or remove the extension in Chrome
- revoke the bridge token from the Aion settings page
